The Catholic Diocese of Techiman was carved out of the Sunyani and Konongo-Mampong Dioceses on December 28, 2007, by his Holiness Pope Benedict XIV. The Diocese covers the Techiman Municipal, Techiman North, Nkoranza North and South, Kintampo North and South, Atebubu, Pru, Sene East and West Districts. It is thus, co-terminus with the entire newly created Bono East Region which is part of the most deprived areas of Ghana. The total land area covered by the Diocese is 25,500 sq. km. Now it has six deaneries, namely, Techiman, Kintampo, Atebubu and Nkoranza. The Diocese has twenty six (26) Parishes and Rectorates and Fifty (50) Priests.
